Wednesday Web Wanderings (27)

This is a collection of interesting book- and library-related things I've come across online this week. Check 'em out!

Just for fun...
  • Click here to see a video of highlights from my library's Zombie Fest last week. The teens had a great time!
  • Click here to see some pictures from my library's latest NaNoWriMo event. On November 1st we had a panel of local authors (S.M. Harding, Diana Catt, Marianne Halbert, and M.B. Dabney) visit to talk about starting a story. It was really interesting and informative. They talked about starting in media res, writing a great first line, and writing an engaging first paragraph. They prepared exercises for participants to complete, and encouraged everyone to share their first sentences or first paragraphs. They also shared some tips for getting through NaNoWriMo. It was a great evening!
Two of the authors, S.M. Harding and Diana Catt, have contributed to a crime fiction anthology called Murder to Mil-Spec. The proceeds of this anthology go to a charity, Homes for Our Troops, which builds specially adapted homes for our severely injured veterans (at no cost to the veterans). Click here to read more about the anthology, read some reviews, and find out how to purchase a copy.

Hmmm... I am skeptically curious about the locker library. Doesn't it sound like a library Redbox? I know that I'm probably not in the majority on this one, but I do love wandering up and down the shelves of my local library.
