Five Great Debuts

I'm participating in Persnickety Snark's FIVE Challenge for 2010. Today bloggers are sharing their picks for Five Great Debuts. Here are my selections, in no particular order:

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
The Iron King (Harlequin Teen)

This was a great start to the Iron Fey series. A strong female protaganist, a forbidden romance, action and adventure...what's not to like? Plus the book cover is absolutely gorgeous!

Claire de Lune by Christine Johnson
Claire de Lune

This is a unique coming of age tale comes complete with action, mystery, and paranormal romance. It's also another book cover to die for! I'm looking forward to the sequel which comes out next year.

Tweet Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick
Tweet Heart

This cute story about romance and friendship is told entirely in Tweets, blog entries, and emails. I loved the format and had fun reading it.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Anna and the French Kiss

The fabulous setting along with the true-to-life characters made this a wonderful read. The well-developed romance had me swooning and wishing this book would be made into a movie already! I am anxiously awaiting the companion novels.

The Ivy by Lauren Kunze with Rina Onur
The Ivy

This book offers a sneak peak into the social life of  freshmen at Harvard. While attempting to climb the social ladder, the characters encounter plenty of drama along the way. This juicy read will hook many readers who will return for further installments in the series.
