Library Love (5)

I noticed that when I talk about libraries with friends and family members, they often say, "I didn't know libraries offered that!" Library Love is a feature in which I share many different reasons for people to use and love their local library. Some things I mention may be obvious to those of you who routinely use your public library, but others may be new to you. Either way I hope that this feature inspires you to visit and support your local library!

5. Check out book bundles for your book club.

Are you a member of a book club, or are you interested in starting one of your own? Check with your local library to see if they offer book bundles for book clubs. Many libraries will set aside multiple paperback copies of certain books that are frequently discussed in book clubs. You can usually expect some sort of discussion guide to go along with the title you choose. Some will even provide a bag for you to carry them home in!

Libraries that offer book bundles for book clubs will sometimes list their available titles online. For example, Orange County Library System in Florida has a site which allows patrons to browse titles, view the book covers, read a synopsis, and request a bundle of books online.  If your library doesn't offer this service yet, speak up and make a suggestion if it's something you would use. This is just one more way libraries can save you money and make your life easier!

Are you a member of a book club? Where do you get all of your book club books?

We have about 7 book clubs run from our library, they are a great way to share your passion for books!

Whoa- I don't think my library does that, but I'm definitely going to investigate and suggest it if they don't. What a great idea!!
