Harry Potter Challenge 2011: Re-read of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4)
I flew through this re-read! I loved everything about it - the Quidditch World Cup, wizard camping (I so want to go wizard camping with the Weasleys!), Hermione and S.P.E.W., the craziness of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and the awkwardness of Harry's first crush and finding a date to the dance.

This is the point that I stopped reading the series several years ago - mostly I blame student teaching and my senior research project along with graduating, moving, and starting my first job back in 2007. I'm glad I decided to re-read the first four books because I have a newfound appreciation for the series, and I can't wait to finally read the last three books and see how the series ends. Don't spoil it for me, please! :) I've accidentally stumbled across a few spoilers (it's really hard to avoid them all with the final movie coming out soon and everyone talking about it), but for the most part I don't know what to expect. I know that many people describe this book as sort of a bridge between the first three books of the series and the last three, and I expect the tone to be darker as I read on. Still, I'm looking forward to reading on!

I watched the Goblet of Fire movie, and I was sad that the whole S.P.E.W. plot was cut out, which meant no Dobby and Winky. :( But I understand that the movie can't include everything or else it would be 5 hours long. I missed Mrs. Weasley in the movie too. And why did they cut out Percy? I loathe his character but thought it was weird that he wasn't even mentioned in the movie. Hmm. Despite how critical I can be of the movies, I do enjoy watching them. From now on I'll try to view the books and movies as separate entities and just be entertained.
