Outlander Read-a-long!

I'm signing up for the read-a-long of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I downloaded a free copy of it for my Nook awhile ago, but I've never got around to reading it. This read-a-long is the perfect motivation for me to actually read it! I've heard such great things about this book, so I don't know why I've been putting it off. Will you be joining us?

Teen Spaces

I know I promised pictures on the blog today, but my internet at home is running really slow! Instead of uploading them 
all to my blog, I went ahead and made my Facebook albums public & will link to them below.

We are really happy with the new space. We were able to repurpose shelves and furniture that we already owned. 
But after the move, we were THRILLED to learn that we will be receiving a $5,000 grant for new furniture!
We'll be taking a road trip to IKEA to purchase some really cool, modern tables and chairs soon! 
We'll even have money left over to purchase a few computers for teen use only. 
Once our new furniture has been purchased & assembled, you know I'll be sharing even more pictures. :)

I haven't disappeared! ;)

It's been nice to have an extended blogging break, but I miss my little blog! I have a day off in the middle of the week, so I plan to write a few quick posts then.

• I have pictures to share from my trip to Chicago, in which I dragged my husband to the Chicago Public Library to see their YouMedia teen space. He was actually a good sport about it and helped me take pictures. :)
• I also have some pictures to share from my library's brand new Teen Room! I know you're probably thinking, 'Didn't her library go through severe budget cuts?' Yes, but we simply repurposed some space and used staff & volunteers to move everything for free. :) I'm kind of in love with our new Teen Room! 

On another note, if you are looking for a new blog to follow, check out Sunbeam Yellow. She's a super cool high school librarian in the community where I work, and she blogs about books, crafts/DIY projects, recipes, and fashion! I love reading book blogs, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up a bit and read about some other topics. :)
