Armchair BEA Day 5: Keeping it Real / Children's Literature

Design credit: Nina of Nina Reads

Today's discussion topic is Keeping it Real. If you have been around for years, how do you keep your material fresh? How do you continue to keep blogging fun? How do you not only grow an audience, but how do you keep them coming back for more?

I keep my material fresh by participating in as many events as I can from readathons to virtual conferences like this one. I also try to read backlist titles so that I'm not just reviewing the same things as everyone else.

I keep blogging fun by taking breaks when needed. Sometimes you just need to step away for awhile before diving back in! I also think participating in memes and events keeps it fun.

I'm not really an expert on growing an audience, but I do find that engaging people in comments and social media helps keep them coming back.

Today's genre topic is Children's Literature (from picture books to middle grade to young adult). What are your favorites? Why do you love children's literature?

If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with YA literature! I worked with teenagers for several years as a high school teacher and then a teen librarian. Now I work with adults, but I still read YA because...well, it's awesome! Here are some of my favorite children's, middle grade, and YA titles.

Of course, this is just a small sampling of all my favorites!
