I took a little blogging break last week while I was sick, but I did get a few books read. Here are some mini-reviews of what I read last week!
Big Sky Secrets by Linda Lael Miller
I enjoyed this romance with a beautiful western setting and compelling characters. It’s the last book in the Parable, Montana series. While I haven’t read any of the previous books, this one stands alone just fine. My full review will be up on Book Soulmates soon, and I’ll cross post is here a few days later.
Just One Year by Gayle Forman
I didn’t love this one as much as I loved Just One Day. I can’t really explain why without spoiling too much, but I think it’s mainly because I still had questions at the end that went unanswered. But oh well. It was still a great read! I enjoy reading sequels from other characters’ perspectives.
Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick
This was my audiobook for the week. It was kind of difficult to get through due to the disturbing subject matter (especially knowing that it’s based on a true story). I had to take a break after a few particularly upsetting scenes. But ultimately, it was an important and eye-opening story that I believe everyone should read.
DNF: To Marry and English Lord by Gail MacCol and Carol McD. Wallace
I was really looking forward to this one, but I only got about 5% through before I gave up. I think the eBook version has some really strange formatting which made it hard for me to get through. Maybe in the print version some of the seemingly random interruptions to the text were placed over in the sidebar? I might try to pick up the print version from the library in the future because the subject still interests me.
