Week in Review (4)

Here are some mini-reviews of what I read this week!

Landline by Rainbow Rowell
If you’ve visiting my blog anytime in the past year, you know that I’m a BIG fan of Rainbow Rowell. I was really excited to be pre-approved for this eARC on Edelweiss! (Macmillan is really awesome to librarians.) Landline definitely did not disappoint. Don’t go into this one expecting a book exactly like her previous novels -- it’s different, but in a good way. I loved the magical elements mixed with the everyday events. It seemed like something that totally could happen! And Rowell really knows how to write realistic relationships and dialogue and make you feel something for her characters.I won’t post a full review yet since the release date is in July, but I wanted to share some early enthusiasm for this great novel! I’ve already pre-ordered the hardcover, and you should too. :)

One Rogue Too Many by Samantha Grace
Watch for my full review of this one over at Book Soulmates. This is a light and fun historical romance that I enjoyed (with a few minor complaints). I’m having fun diving into the historical romance genre this year, and I look forward to trying a lot of new authors!

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, narrated by Karen Savage
I’m trying to fill in the gaps with come classic books that I’ve never read (despite being an English major), and this one has been on my TBR list for a while. I really enjoyed this audiobook production by Librivox and Karen Savage’s narration, and I was quickly swept up in the story. I wish I had read this as a kid! I’ve never seen the movie either, so I’ll be checking that out soon.
