We made Zombie Barbies the week of Halloween. One of my co-workers found Barbies for 99 cents each at Goodwill, and I donated a few of my own that I didn't care to destroy. Then I simply put out scissors, paint, sharpies, and other random craft items and let the teens get creative! While we made them we discussed our favorite zombie books, movies, and tv shows and discussed our survival strategies for the zombie apocalypse.
Since the holidays are rapidly approaching, we made DIY Gift boxes. We used TP rolls and paper towel rolls and covered them with scrapbook paper using mod podge. Then we pinched the ends in and tied them with a ribbon. Simple and fun! I gave the teens who participated candy to fill up their boxes.
I've been having fun ordering new YA books and creating themed displays monthly as well. In October I did a Teens Top Ten display featuring previous winners to encourage them to vote for this year's nominees. In November I did a "We Moustache You to Check Out These Books" display in honor of Movember/No Shave November, and it was a big hit. In December I did a display based on the idea "I can't remember the title, but the cover was blue."

It's been a great fall, and I LOVE my new job. I can't wait to see what 2015 brings!
