Bout of Books 10 Progress

Bout of Books

Day 1
I anticipate having a lot of free time for reading this week--for the first half of the week my husband will be working in the evenings, and then he will be out of town for drill (Marine Corps Reserves). The forecast is calling for rain every day, so I'll probably be stuck inside with just the dog for company.
I started off the readathon strong, reading The Sound by Sarah Alderson from start to finish and listening to a big chunk of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien on audiobook. I had actually started this audiobook last week, so I'm trying to get finished with it before I start a new one.

Books finished:
Pages read: 320
Audiobook listening time: 2.5 hours

Day 2
I was able to get a lot of audiobook listening time in while multi-tasking, so I finished listening to The Hobbit, but I didn't read as much of my print book, Forget Me Not by Carolee Dean, as I originally planned. My library DVD of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was due back, so I decided to spend my evening watching that instead of reading. (And then I fell asleep early after the movie...pregnancy makes me tired!).

Books finished: 1
Pages read: 60
Audiobook listening time: 3 hours

Day 3
I took a break from audiobooks today so I could focus on finishing the novel-in-verse I started yesterday, Forget Me Not by Carolee Dean. It was a quick read, which was nice because it ended up being a really busy day for me!

Books finished: 1
Pages read: 314
Audiobook listening time: 0 hours

Day 4
Today I picked a short audiobook, The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida, and listened to the whole book in the morning. Then I needed an evening read, so I decided to jump into We Were Liars by E. Lockhart due to all the rave reviews I've been seeing in the book blogosphere. I finished it right before bed time. So good!

Books finished: 2
Pages read: 240
Audiobook listening time: 2.5 hours

Day 5
Well, I had planned to listen to an audiobook in the car, but I forgot that the spare car has a broken CD player (I'm driving it this week while hubby has the main car out of town). So I didn't get any listening done. I did start reading a couple new books though:  To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han and The Good Mother Myth by Avital Norman Nathman.

Books finished: 0
Pages read: 80
Audiobook listening time: 0 hours

Day 6
Today was my day for running errands, so I didn't read as much as I wanted to. But I got 135 more pages in of The Good Mother Myth by Avital Normal Nathman, so I'll consider the day a success! I'll probably finish it on Day 7.

Books finished: 0
Pages read: 135
Audiobook listening time: 0 hours

Day 7
I finished the read-a-thon strong! I listened to 2 hours of an audiobook, The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, while I cleaned and did boring things around the house like dishes and laundry. I finished reading The Good Mother Myth by Avital Norman Nathman AND To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han.

Books finished: 2
Pages read: 406
Audiobook listening time: 2 hours

Overall, I'm very pleased with my reading progress! I didn't set a specific goal--sometimes I feel like I put too much pressure on myself to reach a goal and then get disappointed if I don't reach it. So it's more fun for me to just read without pressure and see how much I can get done. My totals are below--that's a LOT more than I normally read in a week, so I'll consider my read-a-thon week a huge success! I'm looking forward to the next Bout of Books read-a-thon in August, which will fall right before my baby is due. :)

Total books finished: 7
Total pages read: 1552
Total audiobook listening time: 10 hours

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

It's read-a-thon time again! I don't know if I'll have time to participate in any of the challenges this time around, but I'll be reading as much as possible during the week and keeping track of my progress. Hope you'll join us!
